Anji Tan is recognized for her unique lyrical and rhythmic phrasing, which she experiments in fusing her Musical Theater, Opera, and Pop background into Jazz songs. Her love of storytelling and culture drives much of her eclectic interpretations and stylistic choices, such as her popular renditions of Kundiman (Filipino Traditional Love Songs and Serenades), like “Dahil Sa’Yo” and “O Ilaw”, or changing up American Songbook Standards like Lullaby of Birdland with a D’Angelo inspired beat. A passionate Community Organizer, she also started @SundayJamzz, a jazz showcase and jam session residency that highlights local artists and musicians in LA, and currently serves on the Board for the Grammy-winning social justice Choir Program, Tonality. Most recently she has headlined for the Filipino Organization, Pakikisama, at Pepperdine University in November 2023, which you can catch a live-recorded performance available now on all streaming platforms. Word on the street is she’s slated to come back again in 2024!
