Preservation Pact is the musical alter-ego of L.A.-based singer, songwriter, and guitarist Shaun Cullen. Shaun grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia listening to the classic rock pantheon, psychedelic outsiders, hardcore punk and post-punk, nineties indie rock, jazz, experimental music, and hip-hop. He writes songs inspired by weird journeys across the U.S.A. and the globe, matters of the heart, and his day job teaching college English and philosophy. Expect big pop hooks paired with introspective, literary lyrics that reference modernist architecture and the cinema, and draw on an encyclopedic knowledge of old time rock and roll.

Shaun released his debut album under the Preservation Pact moniker, Hapax, in 2024. The album is dedicated to protecting the places where he recorded it and the spirit they embody–on four-track cassette and reel-to-reel tape on a farm in the Mohawk Valley of New York and at Studio 22 in Northeast L.A. He was helped along the way by members of Philly legends the Chimeras and Tomas Dolas from Mr. Elevator and the Brain Hotel and the Osees. A new album From Bohemian Springfield is halfway in the can and a new single “Mornings in Bohemia” is coming soon.
