Families are invited to a full day of storytelling, music, and hands-on creative activities at the ‘Raise It Up for Youth Literacy’ at Ovation Hollywood. Designed to inspire a love of reading in the next generation—especially those impacted by recent LA wildfires in the Pacific Palisades and Altadena communities—the event will feature fun/learning stations, puppet-making, face painting, interactive painting, bookmark crafts, games, music, and more.

With the support of partners, including L.A. City Councilmember Hugo Soto-Martinez, Los Angeles City College, the Los Angeles Fire Department, the Altadena Library, Reading Among Ruins, Hard Rock Cafe, Dave & Busters, and others, the program will run from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM with age-specific activities throughout the day. The Los Angeles Fire Department will also make a special appearance, bringing along a fire engine for kids to climb aboard and explore. Reading Among Ruins, a nonprofit that supports children who are wildfire victims to rebuild their home libraries for free, will also donate over 200 books to the Altadena Public Library.

Special programming for ages two to five runs 10:00 AM–11:30 AM, and ages six to 12 from 12:00 PM–2:00 PM. From 2:00 PM–4:00 PM, the event is open to the public—all ages welcome all day.

The “Raise It Up” initiative is committed to supporting at-risk communities through initiatives that promote physical, emotional, and educational well-being. With a history of giving to organizations like The Children’s Museum of Phoenix, Bay City Scholars, Walk with Sally, Women’s Guild of Cedars-Sinai, the Los Angeles LGBT Center, Project Angel Food, and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the ”Raise It Up” initiative continues to prioritize purpose-driven impact, now lending its support to those in need and inspiring a love of literacy in young people and their families. The initiative reflects this mission—creating joyful, community-driven experiences that inspire a lifelong love of reading and help cultivate critical skills in the next generation.
