Alih Jey is the daughter of legendary singer and historically impactful composer, Aníbal De Peña. She grew up listening to her dad’s politically-fueled music as well as his poetry and romantic boleros. This combined with her exposure to rock, indie and tropical music, has resulted in an explosive versatility. Alih is a musical chameleon that brings power, sultriness and soul. Her usually bi-lingual performance will take you on a journey… from headbanging, to new-wave or Caribbean dancing, to becoming one with an intimate, heart-wrenching song.

Alih has become a successful artist/singer/songwriter in her own right. Apart from being Grammy-nominated, she writes for TV, Film, Major recording artists (Ricky Martin, JLO, Jessica Simpson) and performs with them as well (Carlos Vives, Ximena Xariñana). She’s played for audiences of up to 40,000 people and received glowing reviews for her albums from Billboard, NPR and KCRW.

Her latest single, “Bang Bang (Mi Baby Me Mató)” is an innovative take on the 58-year-old classic. It starts with the iconic tremolo guitar from the Nancy Sinatra (1966) version, only to swat us with a moody Afro-caribbean beat and verses in Dominican Spanish. Alih’s sultry voice combined with the dark atmosphere of the track, produce a true Latin/indie gem.
