"ANXIETY THE MUSICAL! (do you like that title? is that okay?)" It is a comedic exploration of mental health, packed with original musical numbers, character monologues, and audience interaction (anxiety-inducing for all!). The show jumps through time and space to tackle therapy sessions, the dilemmas of email-writing, and the imagined persona of Anxiety herself.

Drawing from true events, the show offers connection through laughter, aiming to remind audiences that no one is alone in their discomfort.

ANXIETY THE MUSICAL! has performed to sold-out audiences at Upright Citizens Brigade, The Groundlings Theatre, and the Lyric Hyperion.

Jasmine Elist (writer/performer) is a first generation Iranian-American, and an alum of the Groundlings Theatre’s Sunday Company.She performs improv in theaters across Los Angeles, New York, and San Francisco (most recently at SF Sketchfest with her team Girls Night ). She has appeared on LONG STORY SHORT, JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE!, MR. CORMAN, and FRESH OFF THE BOAT.

Laura Donney (director) is currently a writer on the CBS hit, SHERIFF COUNTRY. Prior to that, she wrote on Raphael Bob-Waksberg’s LONG STORY SHORT (Netflix), AGATHA ALL ALONG (Marvel), and WANDAVISION (Marvel), the latter of which earned her an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Writing For A Limited Or Anthology Series. She is proud to have been a part of the IAMA Theatre Company’s inaugural Under 30 Playwrights Lab.

Michael Ryan Cleland (assistant director) is a director, vocal coach, and performer. Credits include directing INGÉNUE, a comedy cabaret at The Cat’s Crawl, composing original music for the animated fantasy feature PRINCELY, and providing vocal training for band Fightmaster. He is currently in the studio on a new album under his musical moniker CLELAND.

Adam Elder (composer) is a songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist based in Los Angeles. After over a decade of writing and producing indie and pop music, joining the Anxiety team represents a welcome return to a childhood spent in and around the theatre. His deep familiarity with the subject matter is an added bonus.
