Funded by Hollywood Pantages Theatre and County Supervisor Lindsey P Horvath.

Written and performed by Teolindo Ramirez, Dating Advice For Useless Queers is a show about romance from two contrasting perspectives. We jump between a dating advice column by and for straight, white, women and the lived experience of a queer person of color who could never follow her advice to the same results. And maybe… the two are more connected than they realize, and not just because one person plays both of them.

KARA (she/her) is the writer of a dating advice column a-la Cosmo or Teen Vogue in the early 2000s. She is a cis white woman that has never considered the idea of a non-woman dating a man. She has a tongue-in-cheek tone and the power imbued in a person whose words are published. RUSS (he/they) is a Chronically Ill, Filipino, Dominican, Nonbinary, Bi, Single, LONELY guy and they hate this column. Russ regales us with all the ways the advice doesn’t work for them, with a few embarrassing anecdotes along the way. And yet… what happens when Russ accidentally follows the tips? Where could this fling take him?

Bounce between an Elle Woods-esque pink fantasy and a Useless-Queer’s best attempts at fitting in! Maybe you already know what that’s like or even better- you’ve never imagined it and we get to present it to you on a fun gay platter.
