Tocaya Organica Brings Organic Mexican Cuisine to Hollywood

Tag: Dining

Tocaya Organica’s modern organic Mexican cuisine has arrived in Hollywood. From salads to tacos, bowls, and burritos, this sleek, sophisticated take on fast casual dining offers a mix of traditional Mexican style with a wide variety of vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options.

The new restaurant has a light-filled Sunset Blvd. location that looks as appealing as the fresh and tasty Mexican cuisine served.

According to Adam Campbell, creative director of the restaurant’s parent company, The Madera Group, Hollywood is the perfect location for Tocaya Organica.

“We noticed that there was really no food like ours in the area, and we are thrilled that we’ve been so warmly welcomed by the Hollywood community. Tocaya Organica focuses on redefining the health-conscious dining experience using the highest quality ingredients paired with bold flavors and we are excited to share our mission for better eating with even more Angelenos at our new restaurant,” Campbell says.

The new restaurant at 6550 Sunset Blvd. features some key differences from others in the chain.

“The new, 5,000 sq. foot flagship location in Hollywood boasts our signature open floor plan while also offering something new, including distinct lounge areas to complement the tabletops and booth seating,” Campbell explains. “Tocaya Organica is about more than just dining, it is also a lifestyle and community, and the lounge seating supports that vibe. We hope guests will feel inclined to stay a while in the lounge, hanging out and enjoying their tacos with friends in a space that feels as comfortable as if they were at home.”

He notes that “The rest of the design is also in line with Tocaya’s ethos of modern simplicity, from the open, window-filled space to the succulents that line the walls and booths, to the custom art pieces from local artists and the vibrant mosaic tiles that lure you into the room.”

Tocaya's dining area is accented by large windows and bright tiles.

Of the menu, Campbell relates “Consistent with our other locations, the versatile menu uses locally-sourced organic ingredients, taking a unique vegan-first approach to salads, tacos, bowls and burritos, while giving non-vegans the ability to opt in with their choice of grass-fed meat, free-range chicken and fish. We also serve aguas frescas and juices as well as margaritas, beer and wine.”

Founded in Venice in 2016, Hollywood marks Tocaya Organica’s eighth location, and Campbell says “We are thrilled to be continuing to expand. We are looking forward to having 13 stores open by the end of this year.”

The lounge area is the perfect spot to enjoy chips and salsa with a refreshing coconut water, cold brew coffee or horchata latte -- not to mention a margarita!

Hollywood diners can enjoy a menu with ingredients that are 100% percent free of hormones, steroids, and antibiotics. Salad choices include the eponymous Tocaya Salad made with shredded romaine and butter lettuce, whole black beans, diced tomato, diced red onion, sliced jalapenos, tortilla strips, chopped cilantro, sliced avocado, and dressed with a spicy cilantro-lime vinaigrette. Popular bowl dishes include black bean and quinoa, Baja Chipotle, and the popular Street Corn En Fuego which includes delicious street corn, jalapeño cabbage, cilantro lime rice, avocado, lime and arbol salsa. Burritos range from a breakfast style to fajita; a fragrant quesadilla; and added protein choices from skirt steak carne assada to Chipotle rubbed sea bass, and adobo tofu. Or diners can enjoy a succulent house made vegan picadillo, made with a blend of pea-based protein, carrots, zucchini, onions, potatoes, and tomatoes.  There are a wide range of quesos, from a vegan mozzarella or jack cheese to a sheep’s milk manchego.  For dessert, there's feel-good decadence with a vegan ice cream waffle sandwich.

Healthy and delicious, Tocaya Organica makes a strong addition to Hollywood’s dining scene.
