The opening adds a distinctive destination-retail use and potential charging-driven footfall to the corridor, with observers watching to see if it serves as a prototype for national rollout. Early response is mixed: strong curiosity and social traffic, but protests and neighborhood concerns over screen orientation near adjacent apartment balconies, uneven food reviews, and broader brand/political sentiment toward Elon Musk. For the submarket, the project underscores Hollywood’s role as a testbed for experiential retail, while highlighting the importance of operations, community mitigation, and programming to sustain demand beyond the initial buzz.

This is the first "entertainment center" featuring a diner and drive-in theater, plus a Supercharging station in the U.S. The unique project from Tesla combines Los Angeles staples of yesteryear and today on a single site: roadside diners, drive-in theaters, and electric vehicles. It will have a restaurant, drive-in theatre, and DC-fast charging station. The two-story location will feature two movie screens visible from the parking lot and a rooftop outdoor seating area. The bottom floor will house the kitchen, bar, and dining area. The second-story rooftop area, which will also have a bar and table seating, will incorporate theater-style seating. Visitors waiting in their cars can also experience a Sonic-style carhop service, with their food brought out. Stantec designed the restaurant, which is depicted in a rendering as a futuristic two-story structure with rooftop outdoor seating. The new diner is reportedly a prototype for a new form of deluxe Tesla charging stations, which, if successful, would be rolled out in other cities across the country.
